Key Responsibilities:

As a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing our volunteer program and ensuring that our volunteers are equipped to provide the best support possible to our patients and their families. Here's an overview of what you'll be doing:

  • Recruitment and Training: Recruit, screen, onboard, and train volunteers, ensuring they understand the hospice mission and are prepared to offer compassionate support.
  • Matching and Assigning: Match volunteers with appropriate assignments based on their skills, interests, and the needs of our patients and families.
  • Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate volunteer activities and provide ongoing supervision and support.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, hours, and prepare regular reports to assess program effectiveness.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the local community to promote the hospice volunteer program and recruit new volunteers.
  • Relationship Development: Establish and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations within the community necessary to support the outreach activities of the volunteer program.
  • Event Planning: Oversee Hand in Hand Hospice’s Arc of Life program designed to help our patients create lasting memories by planning and participating in events that are meaningful to them.

Qualifications:

  • Compassionate Leader: Must have prior leadership or supervisor experience and be passionate about supporting others and capable of leading and inspiring a team of volunteers.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively manage and coordinate volunteer schedules and activities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Communication Abilities: Strong communication skills to engage and interact with volunteers, patients, families, and the community.
  • Documentation Proficiency: Experience in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
  • Empathy and Sensitivity: Understanding and empathy toward individuals and families facing challenging times.
  • Creative Energy: Ability to plan and execute special events for the community and individual patients.

Local travel to assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, and the home setting is necessary. You will be compensated for this travel.
