Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is Hiring an Application and Desktop Support Specialist Near Cincinnati, OH

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), founded in 1803, is Ohio's 3rd largest sheriff's office. HCSO has approximately 900 employees dedicated to ensuring the safety of nearly one million residents who call Hamilton County Home.

This role works onsite and in person with internal customers in downtown Cincinnati and other Sheriff's Office locations throughout Hamilton County. No relocation assistance is offered.

Starting hourly rate is: $19.90/hour

This is a union role and is eligible for annual pay increases per the union contract (currently up to $31.99/per hour after 5 years).

Job Duties:

  • Research and document hardware and software problems and forward them to division/section commanders as appropriate; respond to inquiries and complaints; document inquiries and complaints for future referencing.
  • Act as the technical administrator and subject matter expert for numerous 3rd party applications used by the Sheriff's Office.
  • Support law enforcement personnel and other divisional leaders, with managing, accessing, training, and configuring 3rd party applications in use by HCSO.
  • Assists with the installation and configuration of computer systems; analyzes needs and tasks to determine the suitability of the system; maintains extensive documentation to support projects.
  • Act as a technical liaison between HCSO and 3rd party vendors for technical issues, take ownership of issues and communicate updates and resolutions to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis for 3rd party application-related problems.
  • Assist with testing of new features and enhancements in the software applications.
  • Document and maintain records of end-user interactions, inquiries, comments, and complaints.
  • Provides support for systems users by classifying, organizing, and distributing information necessary to system users; maintains a library of information manuals, brochures, and other pertinent information to maintain knowledge of the latest procedures, techniques, equipment, software, etc.
  • Instructs users in proper operation and maintenance of sensitive equipment; maintains, organizes, and cleans systems.
  • May perform other tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE: Associate degree (A.S.) in Information Systems from a Technical College or University with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience and/or training in an IS-related field or a combination of education and experience; Demonstrated experience supporting users with desktop support in person and over the phone in a professional setting; A , Network , and Microsoft Certifications are a plus for consideration.

ABILITY: must be able to maintain a flexible schedule and be willing to work overtime if necessary; must be willing and able to support HCSO locations around Hamilton County; must be required to carry a cell phone; must have a valid driver's license issued by the state of residency.

SKILL: experience with and strong knowledge of software applications and their configuration options; experience supporting users with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, wired and wireless networks; experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining desktop equipment; exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors; exceptional customer service and communication skills.
