Responsibilities

YMCA Child Care Services is seeking a Sports Camp Counselor who is enthusiastic, energetic, athletic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively influence the lives of young children. Camp Counselors will help a diverse group of children navigate through different activities through the day.

• Connect: Supervise groups of children and establish a relationship within the first few hours of meeting.
• Develop: Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment for each child.
• Advocate: Minimize potential problems among campers by recognizing danger signals and quickly and effectively diagnosing and creating plans to resolve these potential conflicts.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

• Minimum of 18 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to attend work.
• A high level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively and possess values relative to the YMCA mission.
• A warm and friendly personality and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, children and school personnel.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Salary: Part-time $14.00-$14.50 hourly

Hours Available: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm from May 29, 2024 through August 2, 2024
