Hotel Customer Service Agent

Department of the Army

Serves as a Hotel Customer Service Agent in the Front Office Department.

This announcement is open until filled.

The first deadline will be 14 April 2020. Subsequent lists of eligible applicants will be pulled at the request of the Selecting Official.

Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that the area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered. Location

Few vacancies in the following location :

Duties

Serves as a hotel customer service clerk at a lodging property having in excess of 800 rooms. Performs duties normally associated with front desk operations as desk clerk, PBX services, reservations, activities, and security for the main desk area.

Duties include providing information to customers and guests on the various hotel services, shows and functions, the local installation, and the surrounding area businesses and activities.

Interacts with guests on a continual basis by answering and / or resolving billing questions and other concerns. Sells tickets to shows.

Resolves conflicts of a minor nature and advises supervisor of more serious and non-routine concerns for resolution. Operates various office machines and equipment such as a cash drawer in order to receive payments and give change and a receipt for services provided.

Posts charges and payments. Responsible for the accountability and safekeeping of a revolving change fund during assigned shift.

Cashes travelers and personal checks and secures credit card authorizations. Provides communication assistance in medical and fire emergencies.

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work various hours of the day and week when required
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COIVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or before entrance on duty if after November 22, subject to exceptions as required by law.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY / DEPARTMENT.

All qualification requirements must include experience performing duties equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Must have experience in the hospitality industry
  • Must have experience providing information on hotel services, the installation or area locations and activities
  • Must have experience answering and / or resolving questions and concerns
  • Must have experience validating guest information
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in English
  • Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and welcoming manner

All Qualified applicants will be rated against the highly qualifying criteria by a rating panel for evaluation of the quality and extent of your total accomplishments, experience and education.

Those applicants determined to be highly qualified will be referred to the hiring official for consideration. The highly qualified candidates may undergo an interview and reference checks.

Highly Qualifying Criteria :

  • Experience or knowledge of the OPERA system
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute

Education

Education is not required for this position and will not be utilized in determining minimum qualifications. If you would like for your education to be considered by the hiring panel as part of your overall accomplishments, you must attach copies of transcripts (online transcripts will be accepted).

Only education from accredited and pre-accredited institutions will be accepted. Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalency in the United States.
