Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Omaha, NE

Description

Position Overview:

The Director of Finance will be a strategic and business partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and play a crucial role in overseeing and managing various financial and risk management policies and practices of the organization. The primary responsibilities will include: (i) supporting the strategic planning process, (ii) leading the organization’s financial management practices, including the financial planning and analysis, treasury management, and risk management processes, and (iii) providing operational support for various business activities. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Act as a strategic and business partner to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Foster collaboration with other internal Habitat teams, ensuring a balance between financial management, compliance, and effective partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed multi-year financial and strategic planning model outlining funding sources and uses, including investment and mortgage capital.

2. Financial Management Practices:

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Lead the annual budget and financial forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Deliver timely and effective internal financial reporting and analysis for the organization and department heads to drive strong business management and decision support processes across the organization.
  • Provide clear guidance and support for a team of financial analysts, facilitating sound financial reporting, financial management, and decision-making across various departments.

Treasury Management

  • Lead the day-to-day treasury management functions, overseeing all sources of capital, including banking and lending relationships, tax credits, and financing applications.
  • Seek out creative and innovative solutions to provide mortgage capital to support both short- and long-term planning horizons. 
  • Oversee the investment portfolio in line with board-approved objectives and policies.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Maintain an effective risk management and compliance program for the organization, ensuring risks are adequately identified and managed to an acceptable level.
  • Manage affiliate insurance coverage matters and track key compliance areas, conducting assessments and audits as needed.
  • Support external and internal audits and report on legal entity administrative compliance.

3. Operational and Business Management:

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, advisory boards, and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in maintaining strong governance practices for the organization’s various legal entities.
  • Manage the business practices of the organization’s mortgage financing lending entity.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
  • Experience in risk and compliance-related activities preferred.
  • CPA or CFA certification a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Solid interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel and financial management software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
