Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspection of roadway and bridge construction projects.

  • Monitor and document construction activities for compliance, schedule, and budget.

  • Perform testing of in-place materials as required by the contract.

  • Review, prepare, and process contractor payment requests.

  • Mentor staff on inspection responsibilities and tasks.

  • Maintain client communications and relationships.

  • Support asset management, bridge inspection and design teams as needed.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or INDOT Certified Technician

  • 4 years of experience overseeing and inspecting roadway and bridge construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of INDOT Standard Specifications, materials sampling and testing, and construction project oversight procedures

  • Proficient in AASHTO SiteManager

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must possess valid driver’s license.

Work Environment

Physical Requirements

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 50 pounds. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
