Class Summary

Job Description
The Planning and Development Department is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join the team as an Economic Development Coordinator to serve as the primary administrative position within Gwinnett County’s Economic Development Division. This position will play a crucial role in supporting the Economic Development Division by managing data entry for projects, maintaining databases, facilitating communication between the administrative office and the economic development division, preparing reports, organizing files, assisting with meeting preparation, and serving as the primary point of contact for scheduling.
Essential Duties
  • Accurately enter project-related data into databases
  • Regularly update and maintain databases to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Serve as a liaison between the administrative office and the economic development division
  • Facilitate effective communication and information flow between departments
  • Use commercial property databases and research analytics tools to conduct property searches and analytics reports
  • Maintain a library of data requests
  • Compile and prepare reports on project progress, expenditures, and outcomes
  • Ensure reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical files related to economic development projects
  • Ensure files are easily accessible and properly archived for future reference
  • Assist in preparing materials and documentation for meetings, including agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate meeting logistics and ensure all necessary arrangements are made
  • Act as the lead point of contact for scheduling meetings, appointments, and events for the economic development division
  • Coordinate schedules to ensure efficient use of time and resources
Grade
The grade for this position is 103. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related field AND
  • Three years of related experience
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in economic development or government administration is a plus.
  • Proven experience in data entry, database management, and administrative support roles.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database software.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
