Position: Director, Cardiac Critical Care

Job Summary:
The Director Cardiac Critical Care Services supports the Cardiovascular ICU (8 beds) and the Coronary Care Unit (8 beds). This Director role reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Director is accountable for high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
This leader will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on each unit. The Director will supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel and provide clinical leadership and set strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff. The Director will assess performance objectives for each nursing unit and organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards.
The Director is responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency (budgeting) of the nursing unit. The Director will lead and professionally develop the nursing staff within the unit, providing performance goals, feedback, and development opportunities. In addition, the Director will be responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of personnel and will chair committees as assigned and provide direct care as needed. This role assumes 24/7 responsibility for the Director’s assigned areas.
Responsibilities:
  • Active and current Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability.
  • Ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Essential Functions:
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Qualifications/Must Haves:
Minimum Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required.
  • Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years RN experience, ICU experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ management experience preferred.
Preferred Work Experience - Minimum 2 years management experience preferred.
Compensation:
  • Base compensation will be commensurate with the experience and skillset of the candidate.
