What’s this role about?

We are seeking a committed, forward-leaning, and ambitious Sales Leader to head up North America sales efforts for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) mainly in the deregulated utility markets of ERCOT, PJM and CAISO. Having had experience in B2B sales in complex industrial solutions sales with professional sales experience in the battery/renewable market segment will be essential. You will work towards building sustainable and long-term customer and partner relationships in these segments for further development to support and secure the overall company’s success. Financial modeling for presenting propositions that involve either CAPEX free proposals or solutions around operating batteries funded by the targeted client base, this role will play a critical part in expanding the use of batteries across North America that ultimately support a more rapid path to renewable energy generation growth.

You will be solution led, driven by a leadership responsibility to understand our customer requirements in building long-lasting partnerships.

What will I be doing?

  • Drive the entire sales process, including initiating deals, managing project development, negotiating contracts, and achieving annual sales targets (quota-bearing).
  • Oversee projects from initiation to contract finalization, leveraging support from GridBeyond’s technical and commercial teams.
  • This role requires balancing tasks within the company and externally with customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate internal project teams across engineering, finance, legal, and other departments.
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of projects varying in scope and timeline across different states, RTO’s/ISO’s, project types, and markets.
  • Conduct techno-economic evaluations of project opportunities, identify risks, model and optimize arbitrage financial and technical variables, and differentiate GridBeyond's value compared to competitive offerings.
  • Provide periodic reports and updates to management.
  • Create and deliver accurate, high-quality project proposals in response to complex and formal utility RFPs.

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

Qualifications:

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in the renewable energy or power sector, with a focus on sales or business development and client interactions.
  • Proficient knowledge of solar and battery systems, renewable power, and grid markets.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts within the energy storage or renewables sector.
  • Skilled in managing interdisciplinary projects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, particularly with complex pricing models, storage, renewable project economics, techno-economic optimizations, and risk analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, suitable for both internal and external interactions.
  • Proficiency in English, both in writing and speaking.
  • Willingness to travel as needed across the US , mainly and potentially to PJM, ERCOT, and CAISO markets.
