Green Acres is Hiring a Lower School Science Teacher Near Bethesda, MD
- Plan, develop, and implement an engaging curriculum based on Next Generation Science Standards
- Provide instruction using intentionally designed lessons with hands-on experiences
- Teach our techxplorations (maker) class in Middle School (grade 5)
- Provide students with academic differentiation, including support and enrichment, as necessary
- Use our 15 acres of outdoor space as an extension of the classroom
- Exhibit an approach to teaching that encourages deep knowledge and conceptual fluency, using lessons consistent with Green Acres’ progressive philosophy
- Communicate regularly to colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs in a variety of ways, including phone and/or email touch-ins, report card comments, etc.
- Participate in other student duties (e.g., recess, lunch, or dismissal duties)
- Keep up to date with current practices and methods
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- A background in curricular and pedagogical innovation and classroom teaching experience relevant to this position
- A sincere love of working with children, a passion for science, and a love of teaching
- Curiosity and a growth mindset
- Ability to provide differentiated instruction
- Experience integrating technology into the curriculum in a way that is consistent with progressive practices
