William Henry Harrison High School is seeking a Director for its Wildcat Academy Alternative Program for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Director of Wildcat Academy

Reports to: WHHHS Building Principal
Job Summary: The director will supervise and monitor the Wildcat Academy alternative school. They will establish effective rapport with students to motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure graduation in an alternative setting.
Knowledge and Abilities:
The applicant should have:
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • An understanding of the SLSD’s obligations under IDEA and Section 504 in serving students with disabilities and the ability to support these obligations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A basic understanding of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • A strong understanding of Work-Based Learning (including Career-Based Intervention and Industry Recognized Credentials)
  • A strong understanding of the various Graduation Pathways
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and how to support students with emotional and/or behavioral concerns
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and direct the daily operations of the Wildcat Academy alternative school
  • Enroll students into the online classroom
  • Oversee the progress of the students enrolled in online courses
  • Develop and maintain appropriate and effective teaching methods
  • Create individualized plans for paths to graduation
  • Implement instruction around Career-Based Intervention in the classroom setting
  • Work with local employers to place and monitor students in Career-Based Intervention job opportunities
  • Analyze and effectively use data to inform necessary actions within the alternative setting
  • Communicate with students and parents to discuss progress, student growth, and academic and career goals
  • Meet with stakeholders for student placement and/or removal to the program
  • Ensure all IEP/504 accommodations are being met
  • Monitor daily attendance and truancy
  • Available to make home visits for truancy or other reasons
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or beyond
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License for grades 7-12
  • Trained in non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI)
  • Career-Based Intervention (CBI) endorsement
