As an Early Education Teacher, you will foster essential growth, nurture curiosity, and build genuine relationships. You will cultivate a warm and inclusive classroom environment, while teaching foundational life skills by using effective tools, strategies, and techniques to prepare children for school readiness. Position Details:

  • Location: EAC YMCA KIPP Paseo Preschool (6800 Metropolis Dr, Austin, TX 78744)
  • Shift: 9:15 am - 6:15 pm (subject to change based on needs of the program)
  • Age Group: Toddlers (subject to change based on needs of the program)

How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)

  • Provide care for children ages 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) to 4 years old, such as establishing schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and changing diapers.
  • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and clean environment which includes cleaning classrooms and equipment and disinfecting toys.
  • Guide children through a research-based curriculum to grow their ability to grasp new concepts, understand increasingly complex information, and prepare for the next level of care or entry into school.
  • Develop respectful and dynamic relationships with families and staff.
  • Distribute snacks following sanitation, USDA, and CCR guidelines
  • Build confidence with a special emphasis on social-emotional development, impulse control, and social skills.
  • Maintain required records relating to the Early Education Program.
  • Responsible for the safety of the children within the Texas Child Care Regulation directives.
  • Enforce safety and security standards for children and visitors.
  • Attend required staff development and team meetings.
  • Promote the YMCA character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
  • Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Community Enterprise

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Related education and/or experience in childhood development
  • Minimum 6 months prior experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old.
  • You are a team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude, and you can work well with others.
  • You are organized, able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments.
  • You listen for understanding and meaning. You speak and write effectively.
  • You continue to learn from success and failure.
  • You leverage people's differences as strengths.
