Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated PRSS (Peer Recovery Support Specialist) to join our team. As a PRSS, you will provide support and guidance to individuals in recovery from substance abuse or mental health disorders. Your role will involve assisting clients in navigating the recovery process and connecting them with appropriate resources and services.
Duties:
- Build rapport and establish a supportive relationship with clients in recovery
- Conduct assessments to identify clients' needs and develop individualized recovery plans
- Provide education on addiction, mental health, and recovery principles
- Assist clients in setting goals and developing strategies for achieving them
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops
- Collaborate with treatment providers, social services, and community organizations to coordinate care for clients
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress
Skills:
- Strong understanding of addiction, mental health, and recovery principles
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathy and ability to build rapport with individuals in various stages of recovery
- Active listening skills to effectively understand clients' needs
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect clients with appropriate services
- Strong organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation requirements
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Education:
-High School Diploma or GED
