JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER
GRACE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
TITLE: Middle School English Teacher
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Be a born-again Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by
God to teach at Grace Christian Academy.
2. Be committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
3. Show the joy of the Christian life.
4. Model Christ-like attitudes and behavior with students and colleagues.
5. Follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with students, faculty, parents and
administration, when appropriate.
6. Demonstrate a strong passion to uphold the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of
Grace Christian Academy.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Possess a bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college.
2. English teaching experience (1-3 years preferred)
3. Teach scheduled English classes
● Well versed in teaching grammar, literature, and writing at the middle school
level
● Prepare and plan a positive environment that supports learning
● Plan effective lessons
● Employ multiple instructional strategies
● Manage the classroom well
4. Meet the daily expectations and objectives set forth by the Principal. These
expectations include:
● Rigorous lesson plans
● Accurate student records using RenWeb and Google Classroom
● Engaging classroom discussions aimed at critical thinking
● Appropriate and frequent feedback to students
● Completion of educational/biblical CEU’s that are required by
administration
● Participation in ongoing opportunities for professional development
5. Collaborate effectively with school staff, students, and parents.
6. Fulfill all assigned responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions
7. Maintain a professional appearance
8. Respectfully submit to authority, but notify the administration of any policy
he/she is unable to support.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

About Grace Christian Academy
In 1996, God called Dr. Ron Stewart, former pastor of Grace Baptist Church (1988-2016), to begin a new ministry through the establishment of a Christian school. After two years of preparation and research, the first group of fifty-five students and five staff members were present on the first day of classes on August 17, 1997. During the first few years of its existence, enrollment rapidly increased and as a result, the construction of a new 29-classroom building began in 2000. The same school year, GCA first accomplished accreditation for grades K-8 through the Association of Christian School...s International (ACSI). After moving into the new facility in 2002, GCA completed the accreditation process for high school grades 9-12 during the 2003-04 school year. By the year 2005, to accommodate the ever growing student population, GCA further expanded into a brand new high school facility. Grace Christian Academy is conveniently located on Oak Ridge Highway in the Karns community of west Knoxville, Tennessee.
