Under the direction of the General Manager and in coordination with Regional Operations Managers, the Safety Manager leads all safety and regulatory compliance activity for Group Petroleum Services, Inc. The core focus will be to support Regional Operations Managers and Drivers in pursuing excellence in safety. The goals of the role include reducing the frequency and severity of driver errors and improving bottom line income through improvements in safety performance.

General Responsibilities:

• Manages the safety platform (Samsara) – acts as subject matter expert for the program and software, directs ROM/Driver coaching, and ensures/improves utilization of software. Provides feedback to leadership team on safety program enhancements to system and processes.
• Manages safety training program (Infinity) – Develops and schedules video-based training for new hire onboarding, monthly training sessions, recertifications, and remedial training. Analyzes and optimizes the cost of safety training programs.
• Designs and leads quarterly safety meetings and conducts safety training for non-driver personnel.
• Directs emergency response for any accidents, spills, or injuries.
• Conducts incident investigations, performs root cause analysis and documents appropriately.
• Performs annual DOT self-audits, maintains all DOT Driver files, equipment files, and ensures all DVIRs are completed.
• Oversees the VOE Driver process.
• Performs internal safety drills to evaluate company processes in response to accidents, injuries, spills, or mixes.
• Maintains equipment registrations IFTA, UCR, FMCSA, and DOT inspections.
• Develops budget for annual safety training expenses and performance metrics.
• Conducts training observations and/or ride alongs with new drivers before they are released from training and with existing drivers as needed after remedial training.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Must have 3 years’ experience in transportation safety (preferably in the fuel transportation industry). Must have recent and verifiable experience with all the above duties, possess strong skills in MS Office Suite, professional communication skills (oral, written, and presentation), and able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Must be available to travel up to 30%.
