Job Title: Per Diem Shucker

Location: We are located in North Stonington, CT

Position Type: Per Diem (On Call)

Pay: $18 per hour

Overview:
We are seeking skilled individuals to join our team as Per Diem Shuckers for our event catering company. As a shucker, you will be responsible for the artful and precise shucking of oysters and clams at various events. This role requires a high level of skill, attention to detail, and a passion for culinary excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive promptly at event locations to set up the shucking station.
  • Skillfully shuck oysters and clams according to company standards and event requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shucking station throughout the event.
  • Interact professionally with event attendees and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Work efficiently to ensure timely service during cocktail hours or designated service times.
  • Assist with general kitchen tasks if needed, based on prior experience and company needs.
  • Clean up the shucking station after service, ensuring all equipment is properly packed and stored in the truck.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience shucking oysters and clams is required; this is a skilled position.
  • Knowledge of seafood handling and safety practices is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work on-call shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Prior kitchen experience is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in various indoor and outdoor environments, potentially exposed to varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Duration:
This is a seasonal position, primarily catering to events during peak seasons. Shifts typically last 3-5 hours, and availability will vary based on event schedules. Per diem staff are called upon as needed.
