The Employment Services Specialist initiates and develops relationships with employers and community organizations to increase awareness and connect participants to job opportunities in the clean energy sector. The Specialist connects with businesses in Winnebago, Boone, Stephenson, and Ogle Counties and provides both subsidized employment and direct hire options. The Specialist will also mentor/partner program staff in employment services service delivery.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Community & Participant Partnerships

  • Creates awareness and partnerships with employers through pro-active outreach to businesses in the region.
  • Cultivates relationships that result in work-based learning contracts, training projects, and employment opportunities for participants.
  • Creates appropriate matches with candidates and employers to ensure successful employment outcomes.

Communication

  • Actively works with employers to understand their needs and develop participant skills to meet their staffing needs in the clean energy sector.
  • Communicates effectively with employers, partners, and business team members to ensure employer needs are met effectively.
  • Maintains employer contact regularly and documents appropriately in required data systems.

Position Expertise

  • Attend and participate in conferences and workshops as they relate to job duties.
  • Stay current with community employment needs and related skills required for employment.
  • Mentors staff at partner agencies to provide effective employer services.

Administrative

  • Coordinate, develop and assist with assigned services, records, reports and program development.

Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related preferred.
  • 2-4 years of related employment services or human services work required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High customer service focus.
  • Functional use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
