MISSION STATEMENT

Position Duties:

  • Understand and share compelling human and environmental impact of Goodwill of Greater Detroit donated goods retail program.
  • Research, identify, initiate and develop relationships with companies, organizations, schools, churches, neighborhood associations, etc. to increase donations of textiles and household goods in assigned territory.
  • Participate in networking events, business & chamber groups to establish connections and increase potential individual and corporate donors.
  • Arrange and manage special donation drives with local businesses and organizations.
  • Work with logistics teams/colleagues to arrange trucking and pick-ups as needed.
  • Work with communications team to provide information in support of marketing materials (regarding donations partners, drives, etc.)
  • Supervise temporary employees assigned to special donations projects.
  • Prepare reports, trainings, presentations and proposals in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Provide customer service and problem resolution to donors as necessary, maintaining a strong ongoing relationship.
  • Ensure that work is performed in a careful and safe manner, in accordance with Goodwill safety rules, and appropriately elevate concerns about working environment.


EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required, plus any combination of experience and/or education that evidences an ability to perform the job. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Any combination of experience demonstrating an ability to perform the job. Minimum of 1 year experience in a business-to-business sales/relationship-management position preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
1. Can effectively multi-task, has a high degree of attention to detail, and can meet deadlines consistently.
2. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
3. Frequent on-site visits/meetings with potential donor partners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, reaching, stooping or similar activities.
May also require frequent lifting of moderately heavy items up to 35 lbs and for certain positions, frequent climbing of stairs, ladders or step stools may be required. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (with assistance if over 50 lbs.)

MENTAL DEMANDS: Required to remain objective and to respond appropriately while working with persons served. Must be able to complete and prioritize multiple assignments. Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet individual performance goals and deadlines, conceptual thinking and analytical skill required.

MACHINES/EQUIPMENT: Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Microsoft Outlook. Ability to use and operate a calculator, copier, fax, printer, telephone, and other office machines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Interactive office position with staff, trainees and occasionally the community.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess valid driver’s license. Annual criminal background check may be required of employees serving trainees within behavioral health services programs.
