Development Associate Summary Provides support to the development staff by assisting with the implementation of the agency’s comprehensive development plan. Manages the donor database, inputs all philanthropic gifts and notes related to donors; creates and mails contribution acknowledgements and assists with donor reporting for the development department; assists with all areas of fundraising including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship events. Provides key support to agency’s annual employee campaign; assists with GESMV community engagement program; must have a good understanding of Development and fundraising aspects and adhere to the profession’s ethics and standards; must believe in the mission and vision of GESMV and be committed to advancing it through philanthropy. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the donor database and regularly audit to ensure accuracy.Process checks for the finance department and record gift information in Raisers Edge. Send thank you letters within 48 hours of receipt and/or notification of gift.Prepare and maintain information on donors and prospective donors.Maintain campaign records (hard copies and computer database).Maintain gift records (donor files, pledge cards, correspondence, recognition, etc.).Send pledge reminders and process pledge payments.Prepare correspondence, acknowledgement letters, mailing lists, proposals or other documents.Prepare financial and analytical reports.Provide support to development staff in the following areas:CampaignsFundraising eventsCultivation and appreciation events (point of entry or re-entry) Direct mail appealsNewslettersStewardshipProofing of printed materialsPrinting/mailingsAssist Annual Fund and Community Engagement Manager with GESMV’s community engagement program by:Preparing orientation packetsChecking referencesConducting orientationsWorking with GESMV staff to set up volunteer projectsMaintain confidentiality on all information related to donors and giving history and adhere to ethics and standards as outlined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and GESMV.Assist Director of Development with strategy, budgeting and long-range planning.Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Associate degree in related field.Minimum of 6 months of fundraising experience.Minimum of 6 months database management experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar software.Proficient in Microsoft Office products.Excellent proof-reading skills.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work in a cooperative team environment with the flexibility to address evolving priorities. Qualifications Must maintain a valid driver’s license, own transportation and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider.
