Overview

The Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families (CSIF) Case Manager provides benefits counseling, advocacy, and service planning for recent immigrant individuals and families, and organizes educational and advocacy workshops of interest with content area experts to address the array of issues impacting recent immigrant families in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. The CSIF Case Manager must be able to work independently and take initiative to expand The Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families program.

Reports To: SENIOR PROGRAM DIRECTOR, Community Benefits Assistance Program (CBAP)

Location: 876 Schenck Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11207

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt, (4 days on site, 1 day remote each week) / occasional evening and weekend hours

Salary: $45,000-$53,000/year full time employee benefits

Major Duties:

Direct Services:

  • Enroll 50 participants in the CSIF program.
  • Lead and manage 50 cases independently.
  • Achieve 40 self-advocacy goals/outcomes.
  • Conduct timely intake, orientation, and assessment of all CSIF participants in order to develop service plans to help their families gain confidence, self-sufficiency, and greater connection to their community.
  • Provide advocacy, outreach, and referrals to entitlement agencies, social service providers, and other programs on behalf of program participants.
  • Perform related crisis intervention activities and escort participants to appointments as needed.
  • Develop ISP plan with short- and long-term goals for participants enrolled in the CSIF program.
  • Develop self-advocacy goals with participants enrolled in the CSIF program.
  • Follow-ups: bi-weekly follow-up required in the program

Outreach:

  • Conduct outreach in the community to promote the CSIF program and recruit new participants.

Workshops:

  • Develop, schedule, and implement frequent educational and self-advocacy workshops and webinars for participants around selected topics of interest to recent immigrant families, liaising with content area experts who will deliver the workshop information.
  • Recruit and retain expert workshop presenters as well as interested workshop participants to achieve maximum utilization.
  • Schedule 3-5 monthly workshops in topics suck as: Immigration, housing, financial literacy, job readiness, Worker’s rights.

Collaborations:

  • Develop partnership with local community-based and city agencies to connect participants to needed services.

Database-data entry:

  • Use required tracking and reporting databases in order to document services provided, outcomes, and submit proof of goal achievement.
  • Provide program updates at DYCD and internal meetings.
  • Maintain attendance and participation records and upload these into required databases in order to satisfy funder mandates.
  • Compile data and complete statistical and written reports as needed.
  • Prepare for audits quarterly
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required or completion of the Family Development Credential (FDC) Program within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Counseling credential preferred
  • At least three years of case management experience in a community-based setting preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be based in Brooklyn or willing to travel to Brooklyn at least 4 days a week.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday from 9AM-5PM (schedule is subject to change as required by the program)
  • Must be able to work evenings (specifically between 6-8 PM on week nights) at least 3 times a month and occasional Saturdays.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and youth and family development perspective.
