Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician II is responsible for Daily Quality Control Checks of production. This includes but is not limited to hourly checks of food quality and safe control points with timely execution and precise record keeping. QA Technicians are also required to verify the manufacture of products to Good Food specifications via the hourly checks and organoleptic, chemical testing.
Job Responsibilities:
• Reports to the QA Manager and Director of QA
• Run the Approved Vender Program for all receiving and shipping functions as it relates for food quality and foods safety of raw materials and packaging materials.
• Assists with continuous improvement of the food safety and food quality programs.
• Assist QA Manager and QA Techs as needed in daily QA Duties.
• Assist with special research projects as it relates to food safety and food quality.
• Responsible to assist with training GFG Personnel on Allergen and all Preserved Identity of Foods on the production floor.
• QA Duties as needed to back up the QA Manager
• Backup Quality Assurance Technicians and/or QA Supervisor on an as needed basis
• Demonstrates an understanding of the SQF Code Level 3 and works towards SQF Practitioner certification if not already certified
Qualifications and Additional Skills:• Must be 18 years of age or older
• College Degree in Food Science preferred
• Experience in Quality Assurance and HACCP certification preferred
• SQF Practitioner Certification preferred
• Knowledge of applicable office software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with a variety of people and businesses
• Minimum 3 months experience working in a related field
• Ability to communicate with all levels of Team Members effectively in oral and written communication. Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
• Proactive mind-set, decision making ability and flexibility are important as well as the ability to work under just in time pressures.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to take control of situations and follow them through to a successful end result.
Travel:

Work Environment:
• The employee is subject to production environment approximately 85 percent of the work time. (Wet environment with temperatures in the range of 38 to 40 degrees)
• Medium/High noise levels from operating machines.
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’s) processes.
Physical Requirements:
• Able to communicate information accurately to others
• Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information
• Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time
• Able to move throughout workspace frequently
• Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen
• Frequently operates computer and other office productivity machinery
• Able to move up to 20lbs. occasionally
• Able to work overtime and/or weekends.
