Manager, CGCS Certification
The Manager of CGCS Certification is responsible for the management of GCSAA’s Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS). This includes the development and execution of annual plan and budgets, determining applicant eligibility, exam design/administration, attesting procedures, processing of renewal applications, recognition and managing the marketing efforts with the inhouse marketing team. This position manages the CGCS luncheon, teaches CGCS certification preparation at GCSAA’s Conference and Trade Show, and actively identifies other external opportunities to promote/create awareness around the Certification programs. The Manager of CGCS Certification works collaboratively with other team members in the Learning and Career Development department to ensure the competencies relevant to the Certification programs are up to date, adhere to the GCSAA CGCS Certification Code of Standards, and addressed throughout GCSAA’s continuing education offerings. This position is the liaison to the CGCS Committee to evaluate the program’s requirements and to ensure the program continues to grow, elevating the profession and supporting the mission of the organization.
Qualified Candidates Possess:
  • Ability to effectively teach all elements of a certification program to interested parties via in-person, virtually, etc.
  • Associates or Bachelors’ degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Highly desired to have participated in a certification program and successfully obtaining designation
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in an association or membership-driven organization
  • Proficient in building, strengthening and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication & excellent follow-up skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills; personable, professional personality with the ability to build rapport within a diverse membership, including the Board of Directors and other highly engaged members
  • Flexible and adaptable with ability to quickly problem solve and navigate challenging situations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience or knowledge of golf industry and/or golf course management preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
