- Advanced knowledge of news and feature writing, interviewing and copy editing
- Minimum five to seven years of professional experience as a journalist, editor or writer; some experience specifically in magazine or newspaper journalism
- Strong project management experience with a proven track record of meeting deadlines
- Working knowledge of AP (Associated Press) style format
- Strong editing skills and high attention to detail
- Experience with managing staff’s workflow, particularly in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to cultivate new sources to keep GCM content relevant with industry trends and contribute to GCM’s digital social media properties (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.)
- An organized and creative skill set and willingness to work with GCSAA Creative Services & Corporate Sales teams
- Ability to travel, including weekends and overnight stays (approx. 10%) attending events in order to prepare articles for GCM and GCMOnline. Attend & participate in GCSAA’s annual Conference & Trade Show
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, mass communications or related field or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
