Job Title: Preschool Teacher Assistant

Position Summary:
The Preschool Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. They assist in the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum, provide care for children, and facilitate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
  • Help in setting up and arranging learning centers, materials, and equipment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Assist in implementing daily lesson plans and activities under the guidance of the lead teacher.
  • Engage children in educational and creative activities that promote learning through play.
  • Support the integration of literacy, numeracy, science, art, and social studies into daily routines.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to children, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Assist with diapering, feeding, and toilet training as needed.
  • Observe children's behavior and development and communicate any concerns to the lead teacher or supervisor.
  • Maintain open and respectful communication with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to plan and evaluate curriculum and activities.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance professional development.
  • Assist with record-keeping, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental assessments.
  • Help with classroom documentation, such as taking photos and creating displays of children's work.
  • Support the lead teacher in preparing materials for lessons and maintaining inventory of supplies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Early Childhood Education coursework or certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow directions from the lead teacher.
  • Basic computer skills for administrative tasks.
  • First aid and CPR certification may be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
