JOB TITLE: Senior ACH Operations SpecialistDEPARTMENT: Payment OperationsREPORTS TO: Sup – ACH OperationsSTATUS: Non - ExemptJOB CODE: 11180PAY SCALE: $26.76 - $29.00 HourlyGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform, or direct others to perform, Payroll and ACH procedures, especially those related to more complex or significant financial transactions. Leads and provides assistance to the staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily functions, payroll postings and ACH processes so that credit union strategic goals are met. Responsible for covering vacancies within the department by performing and overseeing departmental workflow and member service levels. Answers various procedural questions from staff, audits non-monetary data entry maintenance and monitors or assists when necessary the timely reconciliation of departmental general ledgers. Conducts all new employees training and/or cross training of existing staff. May be required to lead special projects with staff from other departments. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: 1. Lead, train, direct, guide, motivate, discipline, and evaluate department staff as assigned. Communicate and interact with Department Supervisor to develop staff cross training schedules. 2. Identify and resolve, or lead others to resolve, issues that arise not in the normal course of business, especially those related to more complex or significant transactions. Use utmost care and judgment when identifying member related and or system integrity issues and ensure that they are escalated to the proper level for immediate resolution. In the case of member impact, ensure timely communication to management so that proper notifications can be disseminated throughout the company. 3. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position. 4. Perform functions of the various ACH, Debit Origination, OFAC Screening, Check by Phone payments/reversals/recalculation of payments, automatic transfer and payroll processing positions as needed in accordance with prescribed procedures. Ensure that general banking practices are followed. 5. Update and maintain department procedures. 6. Lead and/or participate on project teams and special projects as assigned. Perform system testing and enhancement/upgrade validation and/or implement new products and services. Perform monthly statement validation. 7. Monitor and assist when necessary timely reconciliation of departmental general ledgers, especially those related to complex or significant transactions. Research and correct discrepancies timely/ clear aged items aggressively. 8. Coordinate and monitor daily workflow of the department. Perform the duties of the Supervisor in their absence. Prepare administrative reports and information gathering. 9. Assist Supervisor to oversee the processing/balancing of incoming and outgoing wires. 10. Assist Supervisor to oversee the ordering/balancing of cash for the branches. 11. Assist other departments as required. 12. Any other duties or special requests assigned. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: 1. Combined sitting and mobility throughout the workday to accomplish tasks. 2. Hand-eye coordination required for reading, posting and settling numerous complex general ledger accounts and or account related issues. 3. Corrected hearing in normal range to handle heavy telephone contact to internal and external contacts to accomplish tasks. 4. Effective oral and written communication skills required to train, make general ledger entries, prepare reports, constructively follow up on member inquiries and perform other related tasks. 5. Occasional bending, stooping and lifting reports, printer paper and supplies without assistance weighing up to thirty pounds. 6. Makes sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions. 7. Plans and organizes with little or no assistance and requires minimal supervision 8. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment including an adding machine, personal computer, facsimile, copy machines and telephone. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: 1. INTERNAL: Branch and departmental management and staff, Item Technology and Accounting. 2. EXTERNAL: EPN/ ACH representatives, various Payroll agencies and US Treasury departments, Federal Reserve Bank, members and other industry associations. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. EDUCATION: Successful completion of High School curriculum is required; Two-year degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 2. EXPERIENCE: Three years or more experience at a financial institution or similar experience in a related position preferred. 3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations as well as credit union policies and procedures related to products and services • Strong oral and written communication skills • Professional member relations skills & telephone etiquette • Proficient computer skills and software experience • Ability to work as a team and exhibit strong leadership skills • Ability to work independently with little supervision • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task • Display confidentiality skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. 2. Corrected vision within the normal range. 3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. 4. Lifting – daily work and data bindings weighing up to 30 pounds without assistance. Replace paper in printer without assistance. 5. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc. 6.
