TITLE: MANAGER – SOLUTIONS ENGINEERING STATUS: EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: IT DIGITAL PLATFORMS REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR – SOLUTIONS ENGINEERING JOB CODE: 11300 GRADE: 28S GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for leading and managing the development of the credit union’s custom applications, integrations, and process automations teams for both on-prem and cloud environments. This position must be able to manage projects from concept to production and have the capacity to work with and influence diverse functional lines of business and technology groups. The manager will be responsible for collaborating with many business units within the credit union to drive the team to timely delivery of custom solutions. Additional responsibilities include staff management, reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and other assigned duties. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: 1. Manage development and implementation activities for the credit union’s internal and external web sites, custom applications, and process automations. 2. Collaborate with Marketing, Digital Channel Delivery, management, and stakeholders to define, review and recommend product strategy, function, and features based on backlog, market research, key insights, data, trends, case studies, and competitive research 3. Collaborate with the Project Management Office and Business Relationship Managers to manage product backlog and prioritization. 4. Work with Business System Analyst(s) and internal resources to prepare functional and technical project requirements, provide product documentation and coordinate training and/or post-implementation support turnover for solutions delivered by the team. 5. Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, renewals, and service level agreements. 6. Participate and collaborate with the Scrum Leaders in daily Agile ceremonies. 7. Manage and oversee staff, including providing escalation support for the development of assigned channels and other technology solutions utilized in the enterprise. 8. Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values. 9. Manage software development lifecycles by conducting routine reviews of system functionality to ensure awareness of potential changes due to outside influences, such as browser updates, new versions of client operating systems and industry-related security enhancements. 10. Coordinate the activities of staff in analyzing and tracking planned changes as well as working with the Quality Assurance team for quality assurance testing, preparation of use-case scenarios, validation, and test scripts. 11. Monitor production environments of assigned systems to ensure effective performance, including proactively identifying, researching, and troubleshooting system issues, managing the precise and timely communication of these issues and their resolution across the organization, and participating in on-call support rotation. 12. Document changes to systems in accordance with change management policies. 13. Develop and maintain department procedures to comply with internal credit union policies and external regulations. 14. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position as well as how those same laws and regulations apply to the development of custom solutions. 15. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, security standards, and current technologies appropriate to the systems being managed. 16. Provide reporting for the performance of systems and delivery of staff on a standard cadence. 17. Perform other jobs as assigned. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: 1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to interact with credit union staff, management, vendors, and members. 2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: 1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management. 2. EXTERNAL: Vendors, members, sales personnel, and peers at other financial institutions QUALIFICATIONS: 1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Technology, or related field of study. Equivalent work experience may be considered. 2. EXPERIENCE: • Minimum seven years of experience managing production systems in an enterprise environment, with three or more years of experience directly leading or managing software engineering teams with increasing responsibility roles. • Strong technical understanding of interconnected delivery channels, such as SDKs, APIs, middleware, data, and core banking systems, etc. is required. 3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • Knowledge of financial services (optimally credit union) products, services, and overall operational guidelines desired. • Strong knowledge of products and services, especially as it relates to various software delivery channels. • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex systems. • Solid analytical, critical, and creative problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of electronic delivery channels and how to utilize them to meet business goals is required. • Proven success working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities while managing tactical and strategic deliverables, and ability to concurrently manage multiple deliverables at once. • Excellent oral communication, presentation, and writing skills to interact with credit union vendors, staff, and management. • Strong leadership and management skills. • Highly motivated strategic thinker with strong technical background. • Demonstrate deep knowledge of mobile devices and their specific design constraints and opportunities. • Ability to analyze product performance and recommend improvements. • Results-oriented with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams that do not directly report to you. • Good understanding of customer-focused design and usability principles. • Strategic and financial analytics. • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Sprint planning. • Strong understanding of programming, troubleshooting, and implementing custom software, integrations, and business process automations is required with experience in many of the following areas: Sitecore CMS, UIPath, HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, .NET (Framework and Core), C#, Node.js, Bootstrap, jQuery, SharePoint integration technologies, SOAP/REST, WCF, MVC 5, React/Angular, SQL, Git. • Experience in automation platforms and methodologies, applying advanced programming languages to further automation efforts. Experience with Azure DevOps preferred. • Strong PC skills, including proficiency using Excel required. • Working knowledge of Power BI desired. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. 2. Corrected vision within the normal range. 3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. 4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc. 5. Must be able to work under tight deadlines; may require unusually long work hours to accomplish tasks. 6. Prolonged operation of a personal computer, which includes typing, operating a mouse and reading information on the monitor. 7. Carry and respond to smartphone 24/7 to support critical, production systems. 8. May be able to diagnose remotely and occasionally or may need to travel to site to correct problem either by car or public conveyance. 9. Minimal travel throughout the United States to increase knowledge and skills in relevant disciplines by car or public conveyance. 10. Moderate travel locally by car or public conveyance to resolve issues and attend meetings.
