Global Atlantic Financial Group Opportunities is Hiring a Vice President, Reinsurance GAAP Reporting Manager Near Boston, MA

The VP, Reinsurance GAAP Reporting Manager will assist the SVP, Head of SEC Reporting with managing the external GAAP reporting related to reinsurance sidecar entities (the Ivy entities) sponsored by Global Atlantic. This individual will coordinate with other areas across the organization to prepare and review our quarterly and annual standalone GAAP financials for the Ivy entities, and other related documents. The individual will report to the SVP, Head of SEC Reporting, will supervise a team of 2 or more junior accountants, and will be based in Boston, MA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Timely preparation, compilation, and review of supporting documentation for quarterly and annual financial statements, quarterly earnings releases, and other related communications and presentations;
  • Coordinate the internal and external review of all reports;
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with GAAP reporting requirements;
  • Collaborate with other teams including Ivy Controllers, financial analysis, accounting policy, internal and external counsel, investor relations, corporate development/strategy, treasury, internal and external audit;
  • Provide ongoing analysis and maintenance of processes and procedures used for compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (SOX, SEC, FASB, etc.) and make recommendations for automation, improvements and/or enhancements to processes;
  • Supervision and coaching of junior accountants/associates, and
  • Assisting with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or related field;
  • Active Certified Public Accountant required;
  • Big 4 experience preferred (manager or higher, director or senior manager preferred);
  • 15 years of cumulative work experience;
  • Experience working with disclosure management solutions such as Workiva required;
  • Recent experience in GAAP reporting roles at life insurance companies, reinsurance companies, or other similar financial services organizations preferred;
  • Familiarity with ERPs and consolidation platforms, such as PeopleSoft, SAP, HFM/FCCS;
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. GAAP accounting standards and practices;
  • Familiarity with IFRS and/or UK GAAP reporting standards and practices preferred;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
