Girls Inc. Eureka! is a STEM-based approach to engaging and empowering girls to see themselves as an important part of the workforce of the future. During the Eureka! program, girls get to participate in a variety of exciting and compelling activities that explore the cutting-edge world of STEM through hands-on experiences in a college campus environment.

The STEM position will expose girls to various career opportunities that are available in the field through STEAM-based curriculum. This role will give participants a chance to experience the depth of Science Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. 

Position Summary:

The STEM Program Manager will develop strong foundational knowledge of all program operations within assigned portfolio of programs and will focus on leadership and management, ensuring commitment to the Girls Inc. of Tarrant County experience and adherence to program budgets. The Program Manager will supervise Program Coordinators within assigned array of programs and serve as the liaison for external partners and volunteers. The Program Manager ensures the entire team delivers high-quality, impactful programs, helping girls to achieve their full potential and grow up strong, bold and smart.

The STEM Program Manager oversees programs that are responsible for serving up to 100 girls per year at selected schools. This position works 40-45 hours per week, and their schedule will mainly be between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. During the school year, which includes some Saturdays. Fall, Spring, and Summer Camp schedules are M-F 8 am-6 pm. This position is roughly 50% program administration and planning and 50% administrative.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Management/Administration :

  • Facilitate agency-approved STEM programing (Maker Mavens, Eureka! etc.) to Elementary – High School girls
  • Manage National and local pass through funds promoting STEM incentives
  • Works closely with College and Career, Community Partners, Colleges, STEM industries etc.
  • Explore students’ changing interests and developmental needs to stay informed of changes.
  • Attend campus-sponsored events and meetings, such as meet the teacher night, open house and staff meetings.
  • Utilize agency resources to develop coordinated, effective programs.
  • Collect agency-required paperwork on program participants; submit accurate and timely reports.
  • Meet periodically with parents to explain programs and keep them updated on students’ progress and encourage family involvement.
  • Stimulate interest and enthusiasm within the community for program; explain agency programs to interested individuals and groups, recruitment & retention of girls in program.
  • Build partnerships to expand STEM services in schools and the community.
  • Partner with teachers, school personnel, and school counselors regularly.
  • Initiate inter-agency collaborative efforts; serve as an advocate for STEM programming.
  • Facilitate speaking engagements, lead special projects and initiatives when assigned.
  • Create robust STEM programs in the community.
  • Meet programmatic goals and deadlines as set by agency leadership.
  • Create positive relationships with girls, parents, and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Ensure necessary program data is collected and input into Data systems to support grant outcomes and impact; participate in site evaluation visits as related to grant requests.

Staff and Volunteer Supervision :

  • Supervise staff, interns and volunteers. Utilize volunteers in program delivery; ensure volunteers receive appropriate training; assess and recognize volunteers’ efforts.
  • Encourage staff and volunteers to be creative and innovative; inspire and motivate them to explore new and different approaches to keep programs flexible and responsive.

Additional Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Participate in periodic assessment of own performance; develop professional goals and objectives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, town halls, principal meetings, work collaboratively with staff to meet goals and be out in the community offering STEM program.
  • Participate in fundraising and volunteer engagement events as directed.
  • Engage in approved continuing education opportunities as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with courses in education, psychology, and/or sociology; special consideration may be given for equivalent experience and personal qualifications in lieu of degree.
  • STEM work experience in youth services or related field, which includes some experience in supervision, facilitation of programming to youth, curriculum & program development, and community relations.
  • Growth and innovative mindset
  • Ability to work evenings and at least two Saturdays in the month
  • Skilled in working with diverse clients, staff, and communities; ability to facilitate cooperative work.
  • Ability to communicate with youth and foster their involvement and participation in program planning, problem solving, and decision-making.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate STEM programs that are responsive to participants’ needs and interests.
  • Ability to inspire, stimulate, and encourage creativity and innovation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to provide professional references and clear extensive background checks.
  • Possess reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
