Gibson Dunn is Hiring a Director, Client Strategy Near New York, NY

Gibson Dunn is a leading global law firm, advising clients on significant transactions and disputes. Based in any US office, the Director, Client Strategy will be responsible for developing, launching and running the firm’s client team program and providing framework and guidance to the broader business development team in relationship management for practice/office anchor clients as they work closely with the Co-Chief Marketing & Business Development Officers and Firm leadership.

This role reports to the Co-Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Co-Chief Marketing & Business Development Officers on initial assessment and analysis for client recommendations for inclusion in the program.
  • Create framework and program organizational structure including determining resources, goals and related KPIs.
  • Provide direction and infrastructure for the program, including the client team tool kit, news feeds, tracking procedures, communication channels and information sharing, InterAction development, etc.
  • Collaborate with Client Relationship Partners, assigned team members and other key partners on strategy for selected client teams including revenue opportunity identification, cross practice/geography connections, relationship management approach and client service best practices.
  • Collect client feedback from partners, firm leadership and secondments and work with Client Relationship Partners to address and implement.
  • Create and implement a standard set of metrics and KPIs and reporting cadence to share with Client Relationship Partners, Chair, Firm Leadership and Co-Chief Marketing & Business Development Officers.
  • Work with the senior business development team members to leverage client team framework, tools and structure for practice/office anchor clients.
  • Oversee and directly manage client strategy team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with executives comfortably.
  • Strong attention to detail, the ability to work well under pressure and highly responsive.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to effectively manage numerous competing priorities.
  • Outstanding problem solving and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Organized, diligent, strong project management and time management skills.
  • Assertive, self-motivated and able to operate with limited day-to-day direction.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • 15 years of experience in professional services, legal preferred.
  • 5 years of team management experience, with direct reporting lines.
  • Experience in strategic business development planning, client relationship management and team management.
  • Exceptional in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint).

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $320-340k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
