GG is Hiring a Food Safety Manager Near San Antonio, TX

Position Summary: The Food Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the manufacturing plant/farms consistently aligns with company and regulatory standards pertaining to safety consistency. This role calls for the development and implementation of comprehensive food safety programs, policies, and procedures that adhere to all pertinent regulations and industry benchmarks. As an integral leader, the Food Safety Manager will oversee a team of food safety and quality assurance professionals, fostering an environment that upholds stringent food safety compliance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of all necessary documentation, including SOP’s, SSOP, manuals, policies, and procedures concerning food safety
  • Implement stringent monitoring and verification activities to confirm that all products entering and leaving the facility adhere to food safety standards.
  • Supervise proper maintenance and sanitation of all facilities to meet food safety requirements.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to and accurate documentation of all company food safety procedures.
  • Manage a comprehensive database containing all supplier documents related to compliance.
  • Conduct effective ATP and microbial tests to validate sanitation effectiveness.
  • Direct and coordinate organization activities in accordance with company policy, OSHA, and government regulations, promoting an organized, safe, and sanitary work environment.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the food safety team, which includes responsibilities such as hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure food safety regulations compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Plan and execute internal and external audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Investigate and resolve Food Safety/Safety issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain a robust HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) program.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations related to food safety, and effectively communicate any changes or updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge the efficacy of the food safety identify improvement areas.
  • Manage the plant/farm food safety budget, ensuring resources are optimally allocated.
  • Foster positive relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, customers, and suppliers.

What You Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a food manufacturing or processing environment, with a focus on food safety and quality assurance.
  • Prior experience with Primus GFS, GAP, and/or USDA audits is desirable.
  • Experience with HACCP and FSMA compliance.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • PCQI Certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and quality regulations, including but not limited to FDA, GAP, USDA, Primus, and GFSI standards.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills and proficiency in English reading and writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as required to our other facilities across the country.
  • Flexibility with work hours and days.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage independently.

Working Conditions: This position operates in a mixed warehouse/office environment, which may involve working in cold temperatures (40-60 degrees) within coolers for certain periods.
