Provide project/portfolio management leadership and support for one or more project teams during all phases of a project - from project initiation to completion on single, complex mid-sized projects or on multiple, somewhat related components of large projects. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: project team members, department heads and managers within OIT and other academic and business offices across campus; contractors and consultants. This position typically will advise and counsel: OIT management, user department heads. This position will supervise: project support staff
Job Duty 1 -
Facilitate and initiate project planning activities associated with prioritized institute projects, including working with project support staff and team to define goals, objectives, scope, schedule estimates, resource estimates and cost estimates
Job Duty 2 -
Lead and/or support the execution of complex and diverse projects by continual coordination of planning, assistance with task assignment, change requests, issue management, risk assessment and overall project status and artifact tracking
Job Duty 3 -
Assist in management of project budgets and functional team with prioritization of requests.
Job Duty 4 -
Maintain high level project plans and milestones for all Enterprise Information Systems activities, including technical roadmap and overall portfolio
Job Duty 5 -
Develop and disseminate communications in support of all projects, the project teams, customers and all appropriate levels of management, including project status presentations, escalating issues and roadblocks as appropriate
Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Project Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Six to seven years of job related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
SKILLS
Work effectively with a diverse group of technical and project management staff across multiple organizations as well as a diverse functional customer group within the Institute's academic and business units. Planning, monitoring, influencing, negotiating, and communicating are all essential components of the position. Budgeting, and contracting responsibilities may be involved. A clear focus on customer service, service delivery, and business process change management is essential.
