POSITION: PART-TIME LABORATORY ASSISTANT, NCCER CARPENTRY TECHNOLOGY - HALL CAMPUS

REPORTS TO: CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM DIRECTOR
WAGE: $19.00 PER HOUR; UP TO 29 HOURS WEEKLY DURING NORMAL OPERATING HOURS OF THE CAMPUS. This position is appointed on a per-academic-term basis.
JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, is responsible to maintain the Carpentry labs and assist students as needed. Will also perform general maintenance, housekeeping, and limited office tasks, along with other duties as directed by the Construction staff. The Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty providing administrative and instructional support with lab activities for the Construction technology program.

 MAJOR DUTIES:

  • · Performing routine maintenance on equipment as instructed
  • · Assisting with inventory and requisition of supplies
  • · Assist faculty with the supervision and mentoring of students during scheduled lab sessions or tutoring sessions as needed
  • · Assist faculty with maintaining a clean and safe lab environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent;
  • Two (2) years' experience in the carpentry field;
  • Ability and experience in following technical instructions.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills;
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  • Effective interpersonal relation skills;
  • Ability to work the required hours each week;
  • Ability to comply with applicable dress code guidelines to ensure safety in the training area;
  • Ability to assist with instructional materials, evaluating students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives, ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area;
  • Effective skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff;
  • Effective skill in the operation of hand tools, materials, and job-related carpentry tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (In Addition To Minimum Qualifications and Competencies):

  • Ability to repair and install equipment;
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
