Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Federal Programs is recruiting for an experienced Coordinated Federal Programs Support Specialist. Under broad supervision, researches and develops guidance, procedures, and training for agency staff to coordinate streamlined support initiatives for local educational agencies (LEA) implementing federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) grants.Duties include, but are not limited to;

Description of Duties

  • Collaborate with ESSA program managers to ensure consistency across programs in the areas of budget review and approval, monitoring, and application review
  • Collaborate with ESSA program managers and specialists to deliver training and technical assistance to LEAs
  • Perform needs assessment, curriculum audits, and effectiveness studies
  • Facilitate educational planning, resource networking, and awareness sessions with agency and LEA personnel
  • Design and building resources
  • Design initiative progress monitoring procedures
  • Participate in resource networking and awareness sessions
  • Maintain clear and positive communication between divisions, units, and agencies
  • Prepare accurate reports and other documents that communicate clearly and adequately related to the areas of responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferencewillbegiventoapplicantswho,inadditiontomeetingtheminimumqualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Every Student Succeeds Act and the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Experience with planning and implementing professional learning opportunities
  • Georgia professional educator certification
  • Teaching and/or administrative experience in a public school or system setting
  • Highly effective interpersonal, group, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge base of best practices in educational statistical analysis and reporting
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation using a variety of software solutions
  • Demonstrated success in self-motivation/initiative and leadership and the continuous improvement process
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with school personnel, staff, students, and other support agencies or organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple overlapping high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment

***This is a remote/telework position based in downtown Atlanta. Some statewide travel is required.

Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience.
