The George E. Booth Co. is a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company looking to hire their next full-time Assistant Controller.
The George E. Booth Co. is a major distributor of process instrumentation products and related services to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Founded in 1963, George E. Booth Sr. recognized that there would be a natural evolution in the development of products for the industrial instrumentation process field.
Assistant Controller is responsible for providing advanced financial analysis and preparation of financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability and or other financial activities within the organization by performing the following duties.
This position will be leading cycle activities in on site analysis, as well as identifying, evaluating, and implementing programs/actions to improve operations assisting in communicating key topics with key members of the leadership team.
Primary Functions of Assistant Controller

1. Perform financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll and budgeting duties.
2. Coordinate and direct the planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of the company.
3. Develop internal control policies, guidelines and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting.
4. Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies/procedures, federal/state policies including directives and current accounting standards.
5. Prepare preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets and reports, especially those required by regulatory agencies.
6. As needed, create financial statements for clients as well as upper management.
7. Maintain knowledge of economic and accounting principles, practices and financial data.
8. Use logic and reasoning to identify financial strengths, weakness and provide alternative solutions or approaches to financial/accounting department problems.
9. Ensure all accounting practices follow legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
10. Cost Analysis:
a. Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for cost savings and process improvements. Assist in developing cost standards and analyzing variances against standards.
b. Analyze Variance of cost and expenses, price, Spec changes, and recommend action items.
11. Audit administration of hourly payroll processing and collaborate with Human Resources team to ensure compliance with labor contract.
12. Assist with billing and tax documentation preparation.
13. Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile difference, prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
14. All other duties as assigned.
