Certified Peer Specialist
Duties:
- Provide support and guidance to individuals with mental health or substance use disorders
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower individuals in their recovery journey
- Conduct crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
- Assist individuals in developing coping skills and strategies for managing mental health symptoms
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
- Serve as a mentor and role model for individuals seeking recovery
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on various mental health topics
- Advocate for individuals' rights and access to appropriate resources
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong knowledge of mental health counseling principles and techniques
- Experience in crisis management and intervention
- Understanding of behavioral health systems and resources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with individuals in recovery
- Knowledge of addiction counseling principles is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related field is preferred, but not required
