Gelest is looking for a motivated and versatile individual knowledgeable in industrial maintenance to join the team as a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. This person must be familiar with a wide variety of skills such as electronics, PLC, electrical, electrical plumbing, HVAC, and fabrication. A qualified candidate must ready to contribute their skills as well as learn new skills in a team environment.

Gelest is a specialty chemical manufacturer of silanes, silicones and metal-organics with applications in numerous industries including microelectronics, fiber optics and pharmaceuticals. Gelest is located in Morrisville, PA and is in close proximity to interstate 95, Route 1 and the PA/NJ Turnpikes.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Perform machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Perform basic to advanced level mechanic skills including, but not limited to, construction, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, utility, fabrication, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, troubleshooting and repair of production machines and plant facility.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
• Perform a variety of advanced maintenance and carpentry functions.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
• Comply with company and OSHA safety & health regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Other duties may be assigned. 

This position requires a candidate that can perform the essential functions of Industrial Maintenance such as responding to corrective issues, performing preventative maintenance, and assist in new construction required by Gelest’s fast paced, and changing production environment. These essential functions must be performed following company and departmental expectations to ensure worker safety, environmental preservation, and the highest product quality for our customers. Overtime, weekend work, or shift work may be required to meet these expectations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a working knowledge of industrial maintenance. This individual must be able to learn and execute essential duties in the following areas:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED.
• Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education, and production maintenance experience.
• Lifting/Carrying – Frequent lifting of up to and over 75 lbs.
• Pushing/Pulling – Must be able to safely rig and move heavy equipment.
• Climbing – Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders.
• Walking/Continuous standing.
• Bending/kneeling – Plumbing, electrical and other industrial repairs may require bending and kneeling.
• Work Environment – Maintenance work is both indoors and outdoors.
• Must be able to hear and respond to all radio communications and alarms.
• Must be able to inspect and identify issues that need to be repaired.
• Must be able to read and understand instruction, repair and installation manuals.
• Must be able to work and communicate well with other departments.
• Responsible for identifying, repairing and communicate repair status of mechanical failures of chemical process equipment, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
• Responsible for safe operation of various hand and power tools.
• Function as a member of the emergency organization team if required.
• Be aware of fire, safety and chemical hazards.
• Wear personal protective equipment as needed.
• Must pass respirator fit test as required by OSHA.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude with all coworkers.
• Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and good working condition of all work areas.
