Overview

The Compliance Manager is a HYBRID role for leading, planning, and implementing projects that support the overall strategy and mission of GATX Corporation’s global Compliance Department. Job responsibilities will focus on the following areas: third-party due diligence, compliance risk assessments, global policy management, training program design and facilitation, compliance program monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and will work closely with various resources on Ethics & Compliance projects and initiatives. Successful candidates must exercise good judgment and discretion concerning highly confidential, privileged information. This “hands-on” role also provides access to senior management across our global businesses.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Compliance Officer in implementing and monitoring GATX Corporate compliance policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs.
• Partner with regional compliance officers to conduct third-party due diligence programs and economic sanctions screening.
• Assist with defining the compliance-training curriculum, delivery models, content, and learning audiences.
• Assist with carrying out other special projects, such as investigations, business inquiries, etc.
• Keep abreast of industry issues and regulatory compliance developments to proactively craft and continuously improve Ethics & Compliance practices and procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or accredited compliance management certification
• 5 years of experience as an ethics and compliance professional, ideally for a publicly traded, multi-national company
• Must possess a thorough understanding of third-party due diligence and the foundational elements of an effective compliance program as defined by the U.S. Department of Justice, balanced with a demonstrated ability to understand key business drivers and issues, having efficiently implemented those principles in a complex global environment.
• Analytical abilities and demonstrated ability to learn IT applications and systems
• Strong project management skills (planning, implementing, reporting, and evaluating) with careful attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness, consistent follow-through, and good judgment. Must also balance multiple projects in various stages effectively and drive quality results.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to build effective partnerships across the organization at all levels.
• Must possess the highest professional and personal standards, unquestioned integrity, and business ethics. Demonstrated ability and courage of their convictions and adhering to firmly held principles and values – and hold others to the same standards.
• The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, and curious to learn.
