Gastroenterology of the Rockies is Hiring a CRNA - No nights, weekends, or on-call. Near Lakewood, CO

Pay range: $225,000 -$250,000
Reports to: CRNA Lead
Location: Ambulatory Service Centers (Varies)

**We require flexibility to work in 2-3 Locations**

If commit to 3 or more days a week for a year = $15k 1st yr bonus

Position Summary:

Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a rapidly growing Gastroenterology practice in Boulder County and the greater Denver Metro area with eight office locations and five Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Effectively and safely administer anesthetic agents while monitoring patients during endoscopy procedures. Must work effectively as a team in a fast-paced environment in the endoscopy center.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts and documents a thorough pre-anesthetic review of health history and a patient assessment.
  • Obtains an informed signed consent for anesthesia prior to any sedation administration. Ensures proper patient identification.
  • Inserts IV’s and provides nursing care as necessary following facility policies.
  • Prepares, labels and/or administers medications following facility policies for safe injection practices. Document medication administration and waste per policy and ensures safe storage of all medications.
  • Informs the health care team of changes in patient’s condition.
  • Provides anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post anesthesia care. Monitors patient closely and documents administration, assessments, and interventions per policy in EHR.
  • Inserts peripheral IVs as needed following facility policy.
  • Performs airway management as needed, including oral airways, nasal airways, tracheal intubation, and extubating. Documents all airway management per policy.
  • Provides mechanical ventilation, as necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds to abnormal findings with corrective action. Recognizes and treats cardiac dysrhythmias as appropriate in outpatient setting through use of peri anesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.
  • Evaluates patient response during emergence from anesthesia. Institutes pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure adequacy of patient recovery from anesthesia and adjuvant drugs.
  • Provides post anesthesia assessment and evaluation of patient’s response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complication. Communicates with the health care team regarding any patient concerns.
  • Identifies and manages emergency situations. Initiates or participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Participates in Code Blue drills and training related to emergency situations.
  • Performs or orders equipment safety checks as needed.
  • May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise, competency, and licensing necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and to direct the provision of care in the facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Shall adhere to all the state and CRNA credentialing rules to keep up to date on all Continuing Medical Education requirements.
  • Shall maintain current national status with the National Board for Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
  • Expected to maintain or become increasingly efficient with their computer skills to utilize our EMR.
  • May be asked to participate in Quarterly Quality Assurance meetings and provide insight into ways to improve safety, quality and efficiency surrounding patient care.
  • Expected to be always professional and always treat co-workers and patients with respect. We encourage a culture of safety where everyone is encouraged to voice concerns and ask questions.
  • Shall cooperate in trying to constructively improve the practice environment by making direct observations and constructively sharing these with the leadership team. This includes sharing ideas and insights from past experiences in the work environment. Review proposed study protocols to evaluate factors such as sample collection processes, data management plans, and potential subject risks.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years or more of outpatient ASC and/or GI experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Active Colorado CRNA license, Colorado Board Certification, and current BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Excellent computer skills in software related to the Practice: Word, Excel and medical specialty products, (Intergy preferred). Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, able to interact effectively with other staff members to achieve organizational mission in a teamwork spirit and environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances.
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Raising or lowering objects of up to 50lb
  • Ability to distinguish and identify different colors, judge distance and space relationships, to see clearly at 20inches or less and 20ft or more, peripherally, ability to adjust vision to bring object into focus.
  • Mathematical Reasoning, Memorization and Oral, Spatial and Written Comprehension
  • Exposure to wet conditions, hazardous materials, and potentially infectious bodily fluids in a laboratory setting
