Community Engagement Manager

GO Northwest Housing Resource Center is a community based, nonprofit HUD approved housing counseling organization focused on helping individuals become and remain homeowners in Baltimore City by providing education, counseling, technical assistance and access to homeownership and community resources.. We help individuals achieve their goals of homeownership and strong neighborhoods to strengthen Baltimore City as a great place to live.

GO Northwest Housing Resource Center is looking for a resourceful, organized relationship builder as our Community Engagement Manager to plan and conduct outreach engagement activities to build and maintain productive relationships communicate and promote our services and projects, provide access to community and homeownership resources, and achieve our community development/preservation goals in our partner communities and with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will implement, coordinate, and /or manage projects and activities to assist residents preserve their homes and communities, strengthen, sustain, and promote our neighborhoods as desirable homeownership communities, and achieve the mission and goals of our organization.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Manager will inform and engage community residents and stakeholders in GO Northwest programs and activities to grow and sustain homeownership and neighborhoods in Northwest Baltimore. Working hands on in our neighborhoods, the selected individual will Establish and maintain relationships/ partnerships with community residents, organizations, stakeholders, and public and private sector agencies to address community issues/interests and provide access to GO Northwest services and other resources to help residents improve/sustain their community.

· Produce, implement, and engage residents in GO Northwest and community projects/ activities; secure and coordinate volunteers for projects as needed.

· Communicate and promote GO Northwest services, projects, and activities to increase participation in our community and homeownership services to address residents’ housing/ community needs/issues in partner neighborhoods.

· Implement, complete, and report on Center outcomes and grant deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES include:

· Establish and maintain relationships with community residents, stakeholders, nonprofit and government agencies to implement homeownership and community focused projects/activities.

· Develop and implement strategies to engage residents and stakeholders in activities that promote our mission and goals. . Engage/organize residents /stakeholders in Center programs that address preserving community homeownership and quality of life. Conduct presentations and meetings to discuss community issues and interests gain/ encourage community input, and implement activities to achieve positive outcomes.

· Connect residents to resources that address/achieve homeownership and community priorities/issues, implement projects and preserve their neighborhoods.

· Attend/ participate in community and stakeholder meetings and activities.

· Coordinate and promote Center’s community and homeownership programs/services to increase resident participation. Conduct presentations, respond to inquiries, conduct initial program intake to interested residents regarding home/community improvement programs.

· Produce, coordinate and engage residents in block and community projects/ events; secure and coordinate volunteers for GO Northwest projects.

Create impactful communications content for print and digital media, demonstrating creativity and strategic alignment with GO Northwest projects and activities.

· Produce, participate in, and/or support neighborhood marketing activities and community-related events.

· Monitor, follow up and document program/project activities and outcomes, ensuring completion and goal attainment.

· Be knowledgeable / keep abreast of community issues, development, and trends that can help or impact community or GO Northwest interests and goals.

· Collect, track, and maintain program/neighborhood data, information, and trends for GO Northwest and funder reporting.

· Produce and maintain reports, documentation, and information for GO Northwest and funder project/program outcomes and deliverables.

· Represent the organization at all external activities in a positive and professional manner.

· Perform related duties as required.

Education, Skills and Experience REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years of work experience in community engagement, community organizing, community development, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field. Associate degree and 5 or more years of work experience in aforementioned areas.

· Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; successful experience in working with diverse people of varying ages, incomes, races, ethnicities, and genders.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills: experience in public speaking and producing effective content.

· Experience in producing and conducting presentations, facilitating meetings, and communicating information to various audiences.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills: demonstrated experience in handling challenging situations in a productive manner.

· Strong organizing skills: demonstrated knowledge of community engagement tools and techniques.

· Proven ability to prioritize, adapt, and manage multiple priorities/deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment – possesses effective time management skills.

· Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing community programs/projects in a community setting.

· Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, judgment, and enthusiasm in implementing/managing job responsibilities.

· Maintains confidentiality, discretion, integrity, and professionalism in day to day and challenging situations.

· Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); work experience in utilizing social, print, and online media; use of photography desirable.

· Self-starter, experienced in working work independently and as part of a team.

· Work with minimal supervision and provide excellent customer service.

· Work experience with and knowledge of Baltimore City neighborhoods, government agencies/resources, and community development issues.

o Knowledge of Northwest Baltimore neighborhoods desirable; knowledge of the Healthy Neighborhoods programs a plus.

· Project a professional, job-appropriate image to external contacts, partners, and clients and provide exceptional customer service skills.

· Perform related duties as required.

Knowledge/ REQUIREMENTS

· Demonstrate a working knowledge of GO Northwest programs/services, including Healthy Neighborhoods programs and communities, within the first three 3 months of employment

· Operate office equipment and technology successfully, i.e., computer hardware and software systems, virtual systems (Zoom), copiers, faxes, phones, projector, and camera.

· Possess basic math skills.

· Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and own and have available for use an operable motor vehicle.

· Ability to lift and carry at least 20 lbs. Able to carry, set up/ break down equipment, materials, activities, and displays.

· Morning, evening, and weekend hours are required as determined by program needs as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
