Gartner Plastic Surgery is Hiring a Medical Assistant (With PRP Experience) Near Paramus, NJ

We are a busy surgery center in need of a medical assistant. Our facility is a world class center of excellence that uses the most technologically advanced surgery and equipment. No new grads please.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have successfully completed and graduated from a medical assistant program with Certification
  • Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology.
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Five years minimum of prior experience as medical assistant and/or hair transplant assistant required.
  • Ability to work with clinical staff and handle pressure from more than one provider.
  • Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care programs and team approach

PRP QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in the preparation and administration of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments. This includes the ability to draw blood, process it to concentrate platelets, and assist in the application or injection of the PRP in various medical or cosmetic procedures.

PRP Treatment

  • Responsible for performing blood draws from patients in a safe and sterile manner.
  • Skilled in the use of centrifugation and other techniques to isolate and concentrate platelets from the patient's blood to prepare PRP.
  • Assists healthcare professionals in the application or injection of PRP in surgical or non-surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols.
  • Monitors patients during and after PRP treatment for any adverse reactions or complications, and provides appropriate care as needed.
  • Maintains and documents the proper handling and storage of PRP and associated materials, ensuring compliance with health regulations and facility policies.
  • Educates patients on the process and benefits of PRP treatments, as well as post-treatment care and expectations.

Position Description/Responsibilities:

OR

  • Prepares the operating room for surgery, gathering supplies and medications as needed.
  • Performs pre-operative patient assessment, verifying consents, allergies, etc.
  • Transports patient to the OR and assists with safe and proper positioning.
  • Prepares op site per protocol.
  • Performs and documents pre-operative timeout.
  • Assists surgeon in drawing up medications.
  • Maintains an aseptic, controlled environment.
  • Transfers patient to PACU and gives report to PACU nurse.
  • Cleans and restocks OR as needed.
  • Assist the director of nursing.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center.

Pre-Op

  • Gathers patient's medical history, allergies, current medications, etc.
  • Performs physical assessment.
  • Obtains IV access.
  • Obtains and verifies consents.
  • Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of each shift with the PACU nurse.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate pre-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs and according to physician’s orders.
  • Organize and prepare medical records of patients.
  • Document care appropriately and fully. Follow up on missing data and other patient care needs.
  • Validating appropriate consent and correct surgical sites.
  • Performs preoperative preparation of patient including starting IV, shaving surgical site, scrubs and wraps.
  • Administers appropriate pre-operative prescribed medications.
  • Maintain and demonstrate current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, dysrhythmia detection, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families and other needed clinical competencies.
  • Monitors the physiological and psychological status of the patient.
  • Call 100% of scheduled surgical patients prior to the day of surgery to identify pre-existing conditions and to tell patients what to expect.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center.

PACU

  • Assesses for and controls pain and nausea per physician's orders.
  • Offers snacks when patient is awake and alert.
  • Educates patient on optimal post-care at home.
  • Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of each shift with the Pre-Op nurse.
  • Management of airway and ventilation.
  • Monitor cardiac function, arrhythmia recognition, and treatment of life-threatening emergencies.
  • Management of patient during altered states of consciousness.
  • Management of monitoring and respiratory equipment.
  • Management of fluid lines, tubes, drains, and catheters.
  • Administration of drugs and identification of drug-related problems.
  • Recognition of the actions and interactions of anesthetic techniques.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center.

Salary: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour
