We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Development Manager - Personal Auto to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our rating algorithm, underwriting criteria, and product offerings to enhance customer acquisition, retention, and profitability. What does a PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - PERSONAL AUTO do at GAINSCO?

Continuous Improvement:

  • Utilize critical perspective and extensive knowledge of the auto insurance marketplace to improve rating, underwriting, and customer acquisition effectiveness.
  • Identify new product offerings and add new rating and underwriting reports and variables to our class plan.
  • Collaborate with the Research and Development team, other departments, and stay informed about legislative and regulatory requirements.

Analysis:

  • Analyze existing rating algorithm and underwriting rules to determine optimal performance.
  • Conduct retrospective analyses to assess the viability of introducing new pricing and underwriting variables and reports in our class plan.

Knowledge Sharing and Compliance:

  • Share extensive product knowledge with Compliance and Product Managers.
  • Collaborate to determine Company responses to legislative, regulatory, and case law changes while maintaining compliance and countrywide pricing and underwriting strategies.
  • Lead discussions with Departments of Insurance regarding filings and objections on occasion.

What is required?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in personal lines auto insurance.
  • Specific experience in product management, advanced analytics, rating/pricing, underwriting, or product development/research.
  • Consideration of multiple distribution channels when modifying or designing products.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI or SQL, and Excel required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Products.

  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical or quantitative aptitude.
  • Data-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Quick adaptation to changing timelines.
