GAC 2022 is Hiring a Fire Alarm Inspector Near Cleveland, OH

Summary of Position

The Fire Alarm Technician will inspect, install, test, and service fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings and troubleshoot or document any issues. The Fire Alarm Technician will also respond to emergency service calls and ensure the systems are functioning properly.

Essential Functions

  • Install or upgrade fire alarms in commercial and residential buildings
  • Test and repair alarm systems already in place
  • Perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code
  • Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
  • Respond to emergency service calls
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Provide support and on-the-job training to other team members as needed
  • Update all jobs and actions regarding status of inspections and when permits are being completed and closed out.
  • Keep management informed of pertinent matters as they apply to system inspections.
  • Maintain appropriate attire in compliance with the dress code and uniform policy.
  • Provide and maintain any and all licenses, permits and technical certifications that are or may be required by any governmental agency as part of what is necessary to fulfill the duties of this position. This shall include, but not be limited to, Public Act 217.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all AHJ’s.
  • File and maintain proper paperwork including; Acceptance Inspection forms, As-built drawings and online inspection enrollments
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and/or electronic skills
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to see colors and distinguish between them
  • Good attendance record
  • Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
  • Proficient with mobile tools and applications
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently without direct supervision after training
  • Capable of troubleshooting and upgrading existing protection systems
  • Ability to mentor or train other team members
  • Strong knowledge of network applications, codes and standards in force dictating approved installation/repair methods for high end burglar, fire, access control and closed-circuit television systems
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronic or communication systems preferred
  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
