About the Role:

G/O Media is looking for a Head of Product to lead our product and design teams to define, develop and manage new products for our end users and staff. As the lead of our product and design teams, you’ll work closely with engineering to create the next generation of content and advertising products for G/O Media. We are looking for a passionate and analytical product lead who can seamlessly communicate with leadership and stakeholders. Importantly, we’re seeking both a manager (of teams, projects, and processes) and a leader (of ideas, culture, and design thinking) to build an elegant and compelling user experience. You thrive in a fast-paced agile environment, are a tireless advocate for our users and also understand the needs of the business. You can synthesize a diverse set of needs and problems into an actionable product plan that results in a powerful presentation to end users and advertisers alike.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, define and prioritize the product vision and strategy for G/O Media, from development of new products to enhancements to existing products across all digital brands
  • Lead product initiatives to achieve audience growth and revenue goals and creatively work with sales teams to develop custom solutions for advertisers, introducing their brands to large international audiences
  • Understand, manage, and communicate prioritization of features, making tradeoffs with a mind towards user and business benefits
  • Conduct analyses of market opportunities and competitive products. Maintain awareness of trends and advancements in the digital consumer space. Identify market opportunities and define product strategy to reflect those, using hard data to back up assumptions
  • Create product specifications, manage and prioritize agile roadmaps and teams. Strive for agility, but build with practicality, reusability, and scalability in mind
  • Identify key partners and work with business development teams to connect our vision with those partners
  • Work with engineering to make buy vs. build recommendations regarding technology and product development
  • Direct the product team accountable for the development and introduction of new products that increase revenue and market share

Attributes:

  • You have a successful record of defining and launching digital products that resulted in audience growth, revenue growth, or new market/brand positioning
  • You are user-driven and test with users before building heavily using A/B development strategies. You care about design details including UX, layout, etc.
  • You are a strong leader and change agent who can energize and influence staff across functions, levels and geographies
  • You have a viewpoint on the evolution of digital product experiences, including how consumers interact with devices, environments, content, and commerce, now and in the future
  • You have a good understanding of the nascent commercial opportunities on various digital platforms
  • You have a proven track record of delivering key digital projects on time and in budget
  • You have broad exposure to a variety of user experience disciplines: interaction design, usability engineering, research/analytics, visual design, etc.
  • You possess a willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in related position
  • Experience with agile development and working with geographically distributed teams
  • First-class leadership and influencing skills. The ability to command authority and present effectively to senior management
  • Ability to work with remote partners & team members via online tools across different time zones
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail and results oriented
  • Ideal candidates will have an execution mindset and specialize in at least one of these vertical areas: apps (iOS/Android), video, ad technologies, analytics, mobile and responsive design
