Overview
Position Summary
Responsible for managing the day-to-day Purchasing Logistics functional area, to include the creation of inbound deliveries for materials, vendor expedite requests and flow of all domestic/international inbound deliveries. Drive cost savings and avoidance efforts in the Logistics area, measure performance and provide results to Senior Management. Initiate process improvements within the logistics area (also working closely with the DC personnel). Establishes and maintains a solid working relationship with internal and external customers and vendors. Internal customers such Supply Chain Management (SCM), Marketing, Distribution Centers (DC’s), Customer Service (CS), Finance, Accounts Payable (A/P), and Customs Compliance as well as externally with Vendors, Freight Forwarders and Brokers. Collaborate closely with HLUS Customs Compliance and vendors to address import regulations. Assist with completing annual and semi-annual top 1,000 materials cost validation exercise required by external auditors.

Responsibilities
- Manage all the daily Purchasing Logistics activities in relation to:
- Creation of all non-EDI inbound deliveries - verify quantities; enter BOL’s and any other tracking information provided by vendors.
- Monitor, track, trace and expedite domestic/international shipments daily.
- Interface with SCM, Marketing, warehouses, customer service, freight forwarders and vendors for expediting & inbound delivery tracking.
- Work closely with our vendors to enforce compliance of our inbound request process.
- Management responsibility for Purchasing Logistics Specialist position.
- Interface with A/P, vendors, and warehouse to resolve shipment discrepancies; submission of credits to A/P upon resolution.
- Work with Vendors to resolve all Vendor Non-Compliance Inbound issues.
- Interface with SCM and Marketing to communicate any inventory status updates when materials are HOT/URGENT.
- Cost avoidance – work expeditiously to communicate and get necessary documentation to the correct parties to avoid demurrage (storage) fees for international
- Correct all EDI failures from external vendors and Tokyo daily, critical process to ensure inventory is received timely. Assist Sr. Purchasing Manager bringing new EDI vendors on board.
- Attend all weekly Sales meetings for Customer Equipment Installs and provide status on all critical items needed to complete installs timely and on schedule to all the Operational departments.
- Sourcing all items included in a Photo Print Kiosk in a timely manner to work with technician's install schedule across the US. Communicate with Project Manager & Team daily and attended weekly project progress meetings.
- Attend and represent Purchasing along with Sr. Purchasing Manager in Weekly Customer Service, Warehouse & SCM Management Team meetings.
- Perform annual and semi-annual top 1,000 materials cost validation exercise required by external auditors and summarize findings for Senior Management.
- Cost savings / avoidance –
- Work with HLUS Logistics on inbound freight savings opportunities for domestic vendors
- Expand services to include coordination and arrangement of pick-up and delivery for domestic vendors (using HLUS carriers) and international shipments (working with our preferred AIR/Vessel freight forwarders).
- Work with Marketing and SCM to drive savings in inbound freight for international vendors (e.g., switching from air freight to ocean freight when possible).
- Strategize to optimize current delivery process for more efficient and effective outcomes by providing different Logistic options to Marketing – Ex. AIR/Vessel & Hybrid methodology. Transload critical freight from rail to truck to meet customer deadlines.
- Divert freight to other US ports when certain ones are affected by delays.
- Initiate and implement process improvements for increased accuracy and efficiency in the logistics area and work with HLUS DC personnel to drive process improvements in the DC’s.
- Manage vendor report cards & KPI’s for our TOP Spend Vendors to ensure superior vendor/buyer relationship.
- Collaborate closely with HLUS Customs Compliance and vendors to address import regulations (e.g., the ISF requirement from the U.S. government).
- Participate in pertinent department and Shared Services Businesses supported.
- Assist Sr. Purchasing Manager with any projects as needed. Identify and develop training opportunities.
Required Skills/Education
7-10 years Purchasing experience.
Management experience
Experience with Logistics and Transportation
SAP/ERP MM experience (preferable)
Windows Excel & Word
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
