FTL War Memorial is Hiring a Director of Production - War Memorial Auditorium Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

The organization is expanding outside of Amerant Bank Arena via the renovation of the FTL War Memorial/Baptist Health IcePlex in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This state-of-the-art ice facility will feature two regulation-size rinks, including a team practice rink with stadium seating, the Panthers’ new practice facilities spanning over 33,000 sq.ft. of offices and off-ice training facilities, and a 4,000-capacity music theatre for live entertainment. The future is bright, and we are very proud of what we are building in South Florida.

Job Summary:

The Director of Production will lead and manage a diverse team to produce high-quality events at the FTL War Memorial. This position will oversee all production management tasks including budgeting, payroll, stage management, and managing crew/changeovers for concerts and private events. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of all aspects of venues, sound, lighting, video, rigging and be an excellent creative problem-solver, and approach difficult situations with a solution-oriented mindset. They will also be excellent at prioritizing, managing their own workflow and that of a labor crew, and have a network of colleagues in the field to hire and consult with about various production needs. This person will thrive in a small, rigorous, team-oriented environment with the ability to work under pressure in rapidly changing circumstances. In addition, this position will assist with FTL opening tasks and projects including but not limited to front of house, staffing, venue preparation for events and project completion.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge in production, sound, lighting, video, rigging and over all venue operations.
  • Creative approach to problem solving in a wide variety of concerts and private events.
  • Understand over all stage management needs and requirements for shows.
  • Advance and coordinate all technical requirements and logistics for concerts and private events.
  • Oversee production budget, including the administration of over-hire wage payroll, and purchasing and rental of event related equipment and supplies.
  • Work with the operations staff to oversee the preventive maintenance programs and needs for production and stage equipment.
  • Assist VP of Development on opening needs for the FTL War Memorial.
  • Assist VP of Event Services on event operations and front of house to ensure optimal performance at FTL War Memorial
  • Develop event production budgets and/or event estimates for business development and booking.
  • Prepare documents for settlement as needed for Sr. Director of Finance.
  • Work with all departments to maximize revenue and minimize expenses at FTL War Memorial
  • Assist Amerant Bank Arena staff as needed & requested on production related tasks, items and projects.
  • Draw CAD diagrams and rigging overlays as needed.
  • Additional projects tasks and events assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise the stagehands and back of house crews needed to operate events plus assist the front of house oversight as needed.


Qualifications:

  • A four year bachelor degree in related fields.
  • Working knowledge of rigging, sound, lighting and video.
  • Ability to use CAD.
  • 5 years of experience in venues, concert production and/or event management.
  • Harding working, ability to multi task and work long hours including weekends.
  • Passion to work in the live entertainment industry.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a non-exempt (salary) position. Must be able to work flexible hours,nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
