FST Technical Services is Hiring a Collections Specialist Near New York, NY

Summary: As a Collections Specialist you will develop strong working relationships with our clients in order to provide best in class customer service support for all related client collection needs. Assists in credit and collections activities to ensure monies owed to the firm are received in a timely manner while maintaining positive relationships with all clients. Ability to keep up with a fast paced environment with keen insight in prioritizing in order to achieve firm collections targets and goals.

Responsibilities of the Collections Specialist will be:

  • Outreach to delinquent or high-risk clients to secure payment and determine reason for delinquency on active or inactive accounts
  • Negotiation of repayment plans on outstanding debt if required
  • Work with client in a positive and professional manner to establish full balance repayment plans or settlements
  • Demonstrate empathy for the client’s situation using ethical behavior that is consistent with the company values
  • Handles extensive research requirements for more complex billing problems and inquiries and has extensive knowledge of the organization, products or services, as well as advanced problem-solving skills
  • May provide coaching or guidance to other less experienced specialists on policies, procedures or problem solving
  • Meet key performance indicators as outlined by management
  • Interface with varying levels of management, clients and staff
  • Promptly responds to client inquiries regarding past due balances
  • Prepare reports and analysis on the status of credit and collection matters; provide regular updates to management on these matters
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary
  • Document all actions taken on accounts
  • Identify trends, commonalities and payer level activity to effectively dispute, appeal and overturn denials in a timely solution-based manner
  • Performs reporting analysis to review AR activity, provide explanations to leadership
  • Apply collection best practices to exemplify departmental standards
  • Coordinate with all team members to resolve all issues and identify root causes for non payment

To succeed in this role, the Collections Specialist should:

  • Most important – An individual that is a ‘go getter’, willing to work hard, and has a high level of attention to detail
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field or 5 years of related experience
  • Strong analytical skills, writing,presentation skills, and able to prepare complex analysis and reporting
  • Have intermediate knowledge of Deltek Vision or Financial Force and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Possess knowledge of construction AIA and schedule of value billing experience.
  • Be capable of understanding basic contract terms and conditions.
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and have great follow-up skills.
  • Possess the ability to work independently.
  • Have experience working with contracts/proposals relating to professional services.

Pay range $55k-$70k based on experience.
