Job Summary

The Mechanical Reliability Technician is responsible for providing technical guidance on mechanical systems of the operating units and equipment within the FLNG Facilities. This role maintains and improves the safety, overall reliability, and operating cost of mechanical (rotating equipment) and fixed assets. The Mechanical Reliability Technician assists in the development of strategies to manage assets at peak performance specific to condition, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance best practices to optimize lifetime return on investment, mitigate reliability risk, in support of long- term sustainable performance.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work with equipment including rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping, and compressors
  • Troubleshoot equipment for mechanical issues affecting reliability and work with crafts to implement improvements
  • Conduct equipment performance evaluations
  • Develop and track key KPI's for the maintenance department to assess manufacturing performance and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Evaluate maintenance plans Condition, Preventative, and Predictive Maintenance and procedures to identify anomalies, defects, and provide prognosis
  • Create maintenance procedures where needed and updates to existing procedures.
  • Apply best practices and principles to lead equipment root cause failure analysis
  • Provide input to plant outage plans & support execution of plant outages
  • Work within the MOC management of change process
  • Maintain open and effective communications with operations, maintenance, material control, and other work groups
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM) - Liaise with Reliability SME developing, writing, implementing PM Policies & Procedures, and Key Performance Indicators. Liaise with front line Mechanical Engineers performing QC, taking, monitoring, and trending qualitative and quantitative readings. Track and report Key Performance Indicators.
  • Predictive Maintenance (PdM) – Liaise with Reliability SME developing, writing, implementing PdM Policies & Procedures and Key Performance Indicators while minimizing routine and PM frequency. Monitor and analyze data identifying anomalies, defects, and prognosis. Track and report Key Performance Indicators. Liaise with maintenance engineers recommending countermeasures avoiding unplanned maintenance. Liaise with front line Mechanical Engineers performing PdM QC, taking, monitoring, and trending qualitative and quantitative readings.
  • Condition Maintenance (CM) – Liaise with Reliability SME developing CM policies and procedures, set points, diagnosis, prognosis, and key performance indicators. Liaise with CM technicians providing Quality Control: critical and unspared turbomachinery, balance of plant vibration machinery; lube oil.
  • Provide technical advice/support to Maintenance and Operations as requested for the Freeport LNG Facilities.
  • The position provides a key interface engineering, operations, maintenance, function and contract personnel. (Quality of communications, both written and oral is a critical requirement, with the aim of ensuring clarity and uniformity in understanding across all parties involved in a particular task.)

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience

Minimum Required:

5-years’ minimum and 10 years’ preferred experience in a Maintenance Technical role in the LNG, Chemical or Refining Industry in a plant environment.

Excellent leadership and organization skills.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP/Meridian

Individual must be able to work productively within a team environment

Individual must be accurate and trustworthy with a positive attitude and embracing of change in a dynamic manufacturing environment

  • Technically proficient in all areas of maintenance processes.

Working Conditions and Physical Expectations

  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
  • Able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Ability to distinguish color to perform job functions.
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy weather conditions.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
  • This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge.
