DISH ROOM SUPERVISOR

Department: Dining Services

Status: non-exempt

Reports To: Dining Services General Manager

Position Summary:

The Dining Services Dish room Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the oversight of all dining areas for Lion’s Pride Dining Services. This person provides exceptional quality products in a safe and aesthetically pleasing dining environment. The primary emphasis of this position focuses on safety and sanitation practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

• Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance.
•  Contribute to a positive team environment.
• Implements accountability controls of staff to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
• Ensure university business needs are met, service and financial goals are attained, and make recommendations for improvements.
• Provide mentorship to the dining services dish room team and monitor adherence to service and quality standards.
• Supervises dish room procedures for dining hall and catering events.
• Supervises daily staffing and labor schedules in the dish room.
• In partnership with the Kitchen Manager, support daily operations including employee scheduling, inventory management, menu execution, promotional marketing, opportunities, staff safety, and equipment and facility maintenance.
• Responsible for practicing safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Ability to work Monday through Friday evenings every week. Days off will be Saturday and Sunday unless operational need requires additional hours.
• 2-4 years of related work experience
• Experience in supervising in a dining service field.
• Experience with industry standards, for dining services, including the safety and sanitation laws for the state of Tennessee.
• Experience managing labor schedules, food handling as well as storage policies and procedures, quality control, and health and safety standards.
• Interpersonal communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying backgrounds and perspectives to research and secure information to resolve problems.
• Writing skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, agreements, training documents, and performance evaluations.
• Leadership experience in an established dish room within a university food service environment.
• Food safety certified
• Experience using computerized systems, including food production/procurement systems, electronic customer access, and time-keeping programs.
• Knowledge of related Federal, State, Local, and UC regulations.

Salary:

Hourly wage that will commensurate with training, education, and experience
