Fred Hutch’s Philanthropy program raises funds for cancer and related disease research, care, and education to help Fred Hutch become the world’s best cancer center. Since the April 2022 merger that led to the formation of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Fred Hutch has served as the cancer program for UW Medicine, and Philanthropy is proud to raise funds that fuel the adult oncology program on behalf of both Fred Hutch and UW Medicine.

Following board approval of an ambitious, 10-year comprehensive campaign, our team of more than 100 will grow to more than 150 over the next three years. Philanthropy staff implement high-performing, relationship-based fundraising programs that engage and inspire thousands of supporters who are passionate about preventing and eliminating cancer and infectious disease. Our FY24 goals include nearly doubling our annual fundraising, deepening our patient family fundraising, and advancing the first phase our comprehensive campaign through Fred Hutch’s 50th anniversary in 2025. Our success is made possible through a deep commitment to an inclusive environment and operational excellence.

The 30 member Advancement Services (AS) team includes seven integrated The AS team includes seven integrated and collaborative work groups including Learning and Development, Prospect Management and Research, Data Reporting and Analytics, Software Integration Programming, Gift Services and Data Management, Project Management, and Gift and Estate Management. The AS team manages and analyzes extensive donor/prospect databases with more than 2.5 million constituent, prospect, gift, and action records combined.

The Data Specialist I role is part of the Gift Services and Data Management team and is instrumental in supporting fundraising through processing 70,000 gift transactions per year and inputting detailed donation and biographical data into our growing donor database. The Data Specialist I will be well-versed in database hygiene best practices and continuously aim to optimize current processes and procedures associated with gift processing and data management. The Data Specialist I role reports to Executive Director, Gift Services & Data Management.

This is a temporary position working 32 hours per week. The position will run 3-4 months. 

This position will work minimum two days per week onsite at our South Lake Union campus. All applicants should attach a cover letter to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute mail and process incoming check donations
  • Complex data entry and performing routine database audits, identifying, and researching missing or erroneous data components
  • High volume gift batch processing
  • Assist with acknowledgment printing, packaging, and mailing
  • Constituent record maintenance
  • Smartsheet customer service requests
  • Constituent biographical and gift record maintenance
  • Identify opportunities to reduce data redundancy and improve data quality
  • SharePoint documentation review and updates
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive materials and information
  • Special project assignments
  • General administrative tasks

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge product suite or related data processing / data entry 
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years equivalent experience in high transaction data processing (CRM or POS) system
  • Follow standardized procedures and processes
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with team members
  • Work independently with a high degree of accuracy, productivity, and consistency while prioritizing workload
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong attention to detail and high data integrity standards
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Actively participate in meetings
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.48 to $34.86 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 11 days per year).
