Uphold the rights, dignity and respect of all persons served as well as promote independence and self-advocacy skills; Safely transport participants throughout community and Ohio for Special Olympics events; Utilizing routing software, develop most efficient pickup and drop off for individuals.
Assistance with meals, personal care and transport individuals to/from community activities; Interact effectively with professionals and volunteers; Work directly with and support individuals with developmental disabilities; Work flexible hours including day, evening & weekend to meet the needs of participants
Resolve interpersonal conflict in non-threatening manner; Effective communication skills using spoken & written English; Proficient in both team collaboration as well as individual initiative; Demonstrate good judgment protecting the health and safety of participants
Attend required department meetings and scheduled training; Complete documentation paperwork in a timely and accurate manner; Work efficiently with various electronic equipment including: PCs, tablets, smart phones, email and attendance apps
Attend to individualized behavior support systems and implement procedures with integrity; Act as role model and assist participants in appropriate social skills; Adhere to all FCBDD policies and procedures governing work with individuals with developmental disabilities
Perform other duties as assigned
Benefits of working at the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities:
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in developmental disabilities field preferred; experience providing community-based supports for individuals with disabilities desired; must hold valid American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification; must successfully complete and maintain van driver training to transport.
